Our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit Roast World or use the RoasTime software ("Site&Software")

KEY POINTS

When you create an account on the Site&Software (called an "Aillio ID") we store all of the information you input. You are free to login and change these details at any time.

We do use cookies for your convenience, for example by storing login details locally so that you do not have to login each time you visit the Site&Software.

We do not develop extensive advertising profiles of our users or track them across websites. All of the cookies we use are necessary for the Site&Software to function normally.

We do use Google Analytics.

We do store other information you voluntarily submit to the Site&Software, for example your online biographical information, or your diagnostic logs from a roast.

We keep this information as a record for you to help you improve as a coffee roaster, to keep track of your inventory, and to assist with after-sales technical support.

One type of information collected by the Site&Software is in the form of roasting logs (called roast profiles) which are by default publically available from Site&Software unless you explicitly mark them as private. The same is true for sets of automated roasting instructions (called "roast recipes"). This is for the benefit of the community, so that the data we collect can be used to help everyone.

We may occasionally use your email address to contact you about important updates regarding products you have purchased from us, though we would prefer to update within the website and software itself -- so pay attention to our notifications!

You have the option to delete your user account on the Site&Software at any time. Doing so will permanently erase that information from our servers.

More detailed information can be found below.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site&Software, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site&Software, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

  • “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit https://www.allaboutcookies.org.
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking about Device Information, information you have voluntarily submitted to us through web forms, and information about your coffee roaster and its performance.

Examples of personal information include:

  • Usernames, unique identifiers, emails, and volunteered identifying information
  • Volunteered payment information such as credit card and billing info
  • Roast profiles and associated data such as sensor readings, comments, names, milestones, etc.
  • Roast recipes and associated data such as name and events
  • Roaster information such as serial number, logs, and hardware information
  • Bean and inventory information such as roasted and green weights

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use information including your serial number, roast profiles, roast recipes, personal profile, diagnostic data, and any other information you voluntarily share with us, in order to:

Communicate with you.

Provide better product support.

For machine learning and artificial intelligence research, in order to better understand coffee.

When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, we also use it to provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site&Software (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site&Software, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site–you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/.

You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights -- though it seems rather unlikely that your roast profiles will become of interest to the police.

DO NOT TRACK

Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

YOUR RIGHTS

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe.

Even if you are not a European resident, we will do our very best to comply with any requests regarding your personal information. Fair is fair, after all. We don't want our data flying around the internet for no reason either.

DATA RETENTION

Information stored on Site&Software will be stored indefinitely, until you delete your account or request that we remove it.

DATA DELETION

Once data deletion is requested and account ownership is confirmed, the data deletion request enters our queue. Generally, the data is deleted within 14 calendar days of the initial request. During the deletion process data is securely purged from Aillio databases and servers. All related backup and log data will be deleted within 30 calendar days. Once data has been deleted it cannot be recovered.

CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
